A visitor takes photos of the cherry blossoms
Cherry blossoms recently started to bloom at the Turtle-Head Peninsula Scenic Spot (Yuantouzhu) in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, the Jiangnan Evening News reported.
Due to the warm and humid weather, cherry trees in the scenic spot started to bloom early during the Spring Festival, about a week ahead of the usual bloom season, said a horticultural worker at the spot.
There are about 800 cherry trees of nearly 100 species in the spot and about 10 percent of them have started to bloom already. By the Lantern Festival Day (March 5), visitors are expected to witness more flowers in full bloom, the worker added.
Every year, the scenic spot hosts a cherry blossom festival from early March to early May. With the increasing fame for the spot as a cherry blossom appreciation resort, some tourists have reportedly inquired about this year's full-bloom season.
The scenic spot officials underlined that they would launch relevant tourism packages and offers to attract visitors from the cities outside the Yangtze River Delta Area. So far, the booking rate has exceeded 30 percent. By the late March, the spot will attract a large number of visitors, the worker added.
