The 2016 China International Health Industry Conference (WIHIC) got underway on June 16 in Wuxi, where health industry professionals will gather for weeklong discussions and networking opportunities.

The WIHIC is jointly sponsored by the Health and Industry Working Committee of China and Chinese Culture Promotion Society (CCPS), and will host some 200 exhibitors from home and abroad.

Themed as "green city and healthy community", the WIHIC will see a wide range of activities, including public health seminars hosted by medical specialists from Germany, Japan and China, exhibitions of domestic and foreign health products, massive group shows of tai chi, aerobics and square dances. There will also be free clinics and checkups to raise awareness of physical fitness and health.

With the rapid development of the social economy and rising living standards, people pay more and more attention to health and fitness, which provides a strong motor for the development of the health industry. Experts said that health products have become a valuable way for citizens to balance diets, prevent disease and improve health. The industry is one of the fastest growing in the world with a growth rate of 13 percent annually.
